Using a glass needle, DNA can be directly injected into the nucleus or cytoplasm of a single cell. A few hours later protein expression can be detected. Photo taken of a Zeiss Axiovert 200 inverted microscope, equipped with a PTI ratiomaster FRET detection system, and eppendorf microinjector.
