The fluorescently labeled MHC class I molecules localize to three distinct compartments. Inside the endoplasmic reticulum newly synthesized molecules await peptide loading. Once a peptide has bound they are sorted and transported via vesicles to the plasma membrane where they present their cargo to the immune system.
