1.59h - San Francisco, USA | The day after... Today was again a long day, even though it started a bit more relaxed. The first session wasn't that interesting, so given the few amounts of sleep of the last days and certainly yesteray, I decided to skip that and took it a bit more relaxed. After a shower I chatted with those on the other side of the atlantic and I teamed up with Phil at the Pickwick at 9.30am. Today there were a number of really cool sessions about thing that I can't talk about in detail, but the new stuff in PDFKit, and Core Animation is sweet!! After all the session we immediately rolled in the scientific poster sessions. I had created a poster on both the mekentosj programs as well as for BioCocoa. I think the poster session (a new event this year) was a big success altoghether. A number of people could now at least get funding to come to WWDC, like Phil. But it was also a great opportunity to meet a lot of other people in science that use a mac. Also, people reacted very enthusiastic about the BioCocoa project and we might have some fresh blood coming in. I got many people recognizing me from yesterday's talk and/or design award, very cool. I also finally met Joel from MacResearch, together with other teammembers. They do great work for the community and in addition are fun guys. At the end of the evening we had a nice conversation with Robert Kehrer and Bud Tribble, and we all agreed the scientific poster session was a big success.
Though it missed drinks and food. We were starving as we hadn't had dinner yet at 20.30, so Phil and I sneaked to the Burger King to get something quick to eat. We should have eaten less, as we had an appointment with the other Dutch guys to go for dinner together with Bram Elderman of Apple NL after the poster session. We met outside the Moscone at 10pm and went out for dinner near Union Square. The dinner was great fun and very good, and we didn't leave the restaurant until half past twelve. I took a cab to the hotel and dropped onto the bed. I'm dead tired and will quickly go to bed. Tomorrow evening is the campus bash, our visit to the Apple headquarters in Cupertino. So time for a bit of sleep...
