0:46 PDT - Tosj | Bash Day! Because we have not had the opportunity to visit the hands on labs yet, we decide to do so this morning. Of course we want to see how universal our programs are already, so we set out to get 4Peaks universalized. In the beginning we have some problems getting the iolib started, but after some tweaking and rebuilding with XCode 2.1, we have it ready in 1 session (9.00-10.30 = 1.5 hrs!). So the 'promise' of Steve Jobs during the keynote is true for one of our most successful programs! We did ask of course if we could make a picture of this memorable moment: our first Intel ready program, but the answer was NO, as we already expected. No problem, then over to the Tiger Labs, to get Disctop up and running again.
With the upgrade to Tiger, Disctop would still show the insertion of the disc, so we did have a 'lite' version out of our Pro version again. Now we had to get our Pro version back to a Pro version again. This turns out to be quite a problem, we try multiple experts on this issue and in the end we are assured that they will get us informed via e-mail, because the person we need is somewhere around, but they don't know where. So that is nice service, we give them the problem and they try to solve it.
Tom also tries to get his widget match the design rules of a widget and finally jumps into an Apple page where he is told how to do so. Now he is making good progress again and he might get it ready in the end!
After the last sessions of the day we are off to Cupertino. We get in line outside Moscone West and wait for the busses to arrive to get us out there. We were quite early and got on bus number 4 that hit the road around 5:40 p.m. The ride was nice, the scenery was better than last year, when almost everything was yellow, nor the plants were all still nice green. The first thing in Cupertino was to get the license to drink (an orange wrist band) to identify you as being over 21. We got in line for the Apple Store and bought ourselves some presents. Then we went inside of Infinity Loop and got in line again for the food. Taking still pictures was officially not allowed, but everyone was doing it, so we did too. We made some pictures with Louk Jansen, an Apple Europe employee and of ourselves with Philipp and Serge who joined us already at Moscone West.
Upon entrance of the building we got a gift certificate for one song in the iTunes Music Store, but OF COURSE that is only for people with an account in the US!!! Very nice Apple!
Well, our Australian friends had more to complain, they even don't have an iTMS! We had a nice fast trip back to Moscone West and ready to get some sleep for the last day of WWDC 2005.
