20.47h PDT - Tosj | This morning we rented a car from Dollar rent, a good looking Dodge Neon! We were first told to take at least a medium sized car because of my length, but in the Netherlands I fit in a Fiat, so that was no problem. After all the financial stuff we set out to the north over the Golden Gate bridge. After a short while we tuned in to listen to the station we heard the rest of the day: KFOG. With the radio on we found ourselves quite soon in the Muir Woods , where we had the opportunity to gaze at the huge Redwood and the Giant Sequoia trees (If Ents really exist, they must live here).

After our small detour into the Muir Woods, we went back to highway 1 to continue our journey to Muir Beach and Stonson Beach. Those were the places where we saw Pelicans, Seals, Eagles and Lizards in their beautiful habitats filled with all kinds of flowers with no names, because we are no real biologists... What we do know is the the scenery was great.

Golden Gate Bridge
Painted in International Orange primer, the Golden Gate Bridge is the most well-known symbol for San Francisco. Build from 1933-1937 under supervision of chief engineer Joseph B. Strauss, and opened on May 28, 1937, this 4,200 ft. long suspension bridge spans the San Francisco bay and is one of the main entry and exit points of the city.
Named for conservationist John Muir, this national monument preserves one of the finest examples of the northern California coastal valleys, containing the famous redwood trees.
