20.17h PDT - Tosj | I awoke this morning around 7.45h from the noise of the traffic in the street, it turned out that Alex was already awake and taking pictures out of the rooms window... After a shower and some (audio)chatting with the girlfriends, and finding a workaround for Miranda's iBook, we arranged a trip through the city by Tower Tours. A trip to Alcatraz was not possible anymore for today, so we decided to take the tour and arrange tickets at the end of the tour. To kill some time before the trip, we made a walk through the neighbourhood, including the, at that time closed, Apple Store, and the Moscone Convention Center.
At 10.15h we were picked up by Jay and after some more driving around to pick up people, we started our tour at the Beach Street. We drove via Bay street and Columbus Avenue to the Trans America Pyramid and the financial district. We pulled over to California Street where we had a look at Grace Cathedral. From there further to Fillmore street, Geary street and the City Hall in the middle of Civic Center. After a photoshoot break we headed for Alamo square were we had a good view over the San Francisco skyline. We drove on to the Buena Vista Park and Golden Gate Park where we had a short lunch break. Twin Peaks was too cloudy at that time, so we went immediately to the Presidio and the Golden Gate Bridge. On the other side of the bridge where all the tourists make their favorite picture. By then the end of the tour was near and we were driven back to the city, where we were dropped off at pier 41.
At the pier we arranged our tickets for a 'night' trip (19.05h) to the pelican island (Alcatraz) on saturday the 3rd of July. We went to see if there were still some sea lions around at pier 39 and they were, even to lazy to go breading in non-San Francisco places they normally go... From there we walked back to Hyde street, the beginning of one of the Cable Cars, but with a huge crowd waiting, we decided to go walking up russian hill, walked down the famous corners in Lombard street on to the Coit Tower. From there back to the hotel. We decided to go via the Trans America Pyramid and California Street. Of course we couldn't resist visiting the Apple store at Market street.
We had seen some police and firefighters in action already, but no real opportunity to take a picture in full action. While we were processing the pictures of the day, we heard the sounds of breaking cars and a collision. We were right above a small accident between two cars. Probably because of the sirens of a nearby firetruck they collided, the firetruck drove by and police assistance was sent immediately. So we could take both pictures, although they were from above.
See you tomorrow, when we hope to have a report on the car rental we planned, Mek&Tosj.
